It's no secret that false lashes are not only trendy, but are a MUST-HAVE beauty essential. Lashes are a key part of what pulls together a makeup look, elevating it to next-level glam status. As a lash technician, I am here to tell you that beauty services like lash extensions and lash lifts & tints are a great way to achieve that glamorous, ready-to-go luscious lash-look on the daily. However, not everyone is ready to commit to the upkeep involved, and often lashes just need a little break from the treatments. In any case, investing in a really nice set of faux lashes is your best bet to keep your look on point.
I felt inspired to design a range of beautiful, wearable luxury faux mink lashes to offer a lash solution for our clients between services, and so that others who were not ready for lash services could still have the lashes of their dreams! Some of you may think that buying a set of faux lashes may not be worth the investment. You may be of the opinion that they are not inexpensive, and are a waste of money especially if they can only be worn one or two times. Of course a good quality set won't be cheap, but when properly cared for, a high quality set of lashes like ours, can be worn again, and again, and again........up to twenty times in fact! Now that's worth the investment!
Here are my top tips to help you make the most of your false lashes if you decide to give them a try, here goes:
1. Make sure they fit.
Take the time to measure and trim your new lashes to fit your eyes, making sure you measure each lash separately to fit each individual eye. Hold the lash strip up against your natural lashes. The ideal length is just short of your natural lash line length. If it's longer than that, just snip some off, using small eyebrow scissors for precision. Always trim the lashes from the outer corner to maintain their shape.
2. Remove them carefully. Ripping your lash strip off at the end of the day IS NOT recommended. Not only will it damage the delicate structure of the lash strip, it will damage the sensitive and delicate skin on the lash lid, eventually leading to premature texture and a droopy lid. Instead, dampen a cotton bud with makeup remover or micellar water, then gently wipe the bud over the lash strip to loosen the glue. When it becomes loose you can get under the strip with the bud, pushing downwards gently till the lash dislodges. Use as many damp buds as you need, then repeat on the other eye.
3. Remove excess glue.
After removal, make sure to remove excess glue that is still on the lash band. An simple way to do this is by gently picking off any of the glue that may still be on the band with a tweezer. I like to use The A-List Beauty slanted tip tweezer that is available in our essential beauty tool kit.
4. Clean the faux lashes.
If you've applied a little mascara to your lashes while you had your lashes on, it is a good idea to clean them after wear. This will keep them hygienically safe, and avoid damage to the delicate lash hairs caused by the weight of the excess product sitting on them. You can a clean mascara wand dipped in micellar water/makeup remover and slowly comb the lashes out. If you don't have a wand you can use a cotton bud, making sure any stuck cotton fibers are removed afterwards with your tweezer. This process will ensure every last bit of mascara is removed from your lashes. I also like to rub over the band with a damp cotton bud to remove any eyeliner that might be parked there. Lastly, brush them through to maintain their fluff and shape with a clean mascara wand after cleansing.
5. Proper Lash Storage
Proper storage of your lashes is essential to keeping them in tip-top condition. Not only will it ensure cleanliness is maintained, it also helps them retain their shape and prevents the lash hairs from being misshapen and crushed by any other dust, dirt or objects that could fall on them. We are so particular about this that we have specially designed our lash set with a beautiful luxury reusable trinket box for proper lash storage. It also looks beautiful on your dresser!
